I had flown to UK to visit Kirti while she was pursuing her Masters. And during my visit, on Valentine's day, she surprised me by taking me for a tour of Old Trafford (it was my ultimate dream). She had already seen it before so she was just roaming around absent mindedly while I was all ecstatic basking in its glory. And when she was unware, I caught her offguard in the middle of the stadium stating "I love you and can't wait for you to be my side forever. We should marry".
So, we did not have an official question asking with me going down on my knee with a ring in my hand etc. etc. What we knew was we were in love and we wanted to be together forever. And that was everything! :)
We met as a bunch of kids straight out of school and during our first meeting interacted only for a few hours. At that point in time, I didn't notice him much but did find him quite charming. And, I don't know why but while returning home, i wondered to myself "He already has a girlfriend, why will he be interested in me?" But who knew. On New Year's eve, he sent me a message on Orkut (yes, there was no Facebook/whatsapp then - man are we old?) and I remember I had butterflies in my stomach and I couldn't resist replying. Thus, began our endless conversations via phone, text, chats and before we knew we fell in love over the phone. He called, I called and we never stopped calling. This, of course, was eleven years ago. Yes, it was official. We were dating and it was serious and what's more? It was a long distance relationship. And even though we didn't see each other so often in all these years, when we did, I honestly haven't known any other happier feeling.
So, after a 11-year long distance relationship, after living and experiencing countless magical moments from being in different countries to taking our first holiday together, from our first date to many more, from me getting angry after losing in a game to him taking me for my favorite Indo-Chinese food despite not liking it, I finally get to share a home with him and call him my husband <3.
I’d first heard of her name when we were in college through a common friend of ours. Never would i have imagined that someday I’d marry her, let alone even meet her. We got acquainted through the same common friend of ours and the three of us had a drink together and parted ways. Soon she lingered into my thoughts and it wasn't until a few weeks later on new year’s eve that i’d mustered up some courage to send her a message on Orkut. Thus started our text conversations and on Valentines, we started talking over phone. A week later I asked her out (As dumb as I was, she was the one who instigated me) and before I knew it we were committed and stand here today tying the knot after eleven years of courtship.
Born in Calcutta, I am the only child. I too have moved around India since childhood living in different cities due to my father’s transfer now and then for work, which has led me to love travelling. I attended AMET University for my under-grad and it was during this time I met Kirti. After completing my degree, I now work in Merchant Navy.
Some interesting points to note about me :
- To no one's surprise, my passion for beer has further deepened owing to my lifestyle as a sailor and in the future I have some serious plans for opening a brewery/home brewing :P
- I am obssessed with my beard and thus, I believe in "My beard, therefore, my rules! I am sure the bride must be laughing reading this.
- I also, am an avid football fan and when a match is on nothing else matters to me. Ask the bride for her comments on this? ;)
I am the elder of the two sisters we are and was born in Delhi and always thought I would work and settle here. But, from my childhood guess travelling was something that was bound to happen with me which after all these years has left me to utterly dislike packing and unpacking now. However, I am all in for travelling and visiting different countries as long as someone else pack's for me.. ;)
When I was five, I moved to a boarding school in Nainital and studied there for 7 years before returning to Delhi. After that I stayed in Delhi until my under-grad. It was during my 2nd year of College that I met Raghu, unaware that I would end up marrying him someday as during our first meeting itself he had made it clear how he despised Delhi and Delhiites. Who doesn't like Delhi, I know?? Soon after my graduation, the very next year I moved again and this time to UK for my Masters and stayed there for 3.5 years. And since then I have moved base to various cities for work year after year. From staying in Bangalore to moving to Pune, to currently being in Delhi; but during all this what has remained constant is "US" and finally I am looking forward to settling in the City of Nizams calling it my new home (hopefully permanently, but you never know with me ;)
